Time you can’t skip

In a darkroom nothing happens instantly. You wait for the developer to warm, for the image to surface, for the print to wash. The clock becomes a creative tool, measured in seconds you count out loud.

There is no undo. A print that goes too dark stays too dark. So you slow down, you test, you make strips of possibility and compare them under the safelight.

The image appears the way a memory does — faintly at first, then all at once.

Grain as a signature

Film grain is the noise of chemistry. Every silver crystal is a tiny decision made by light. Push the film and the grain grows loud; pull it and it whispers.

We keep a darkroom open for contributors every Thursday. Bring a roll. Leave with fingers that smell of fixer and a picture that could not have been made any other way.
